Why Schedule Employees? What are the benefits?

Scheduling employees has been around long before any software was invented. The first digital scheduling I can recall was spreadsheets where you would build your schedule in a spreadsheet. I am sure before spreadsheets people scheduled with paper and pen.

Today scheduling with a digital solution the employee roster means so much more.

The old way was to schedule on paper, pick up the phone, call and confirm the person is ok for the shift, takes notes on your paper. The modern way is to build your schedule and then push one message with all people scheduled notified automatically at the same time with the ability to turn on a feature asking the person to accept or decline the schedule.

The old way was to have a list of names you could call for on-call scheduling when you needed people at the last minute. I have done this one before in a previous life where at 10 pm at night I needed to find 5 people and would start calling people until I got the 5 people i needed, sometimes I was still calling at 11:00 pm at night starting to wake people up who had already gone to sleep. The Modern way is to push one button notifying any person who is skilled to complete the work and the first 5 people to accept the offer get the shift, everything sorted in minutes without one phone call.

How do you schedule? the old way or the Modern way?

Adding your work schedule to your google calendar – Google helped to solve this issue

Customer……

I work a rotating shift schedule which is standard every month. Basically I want a shortcut (likely by using a weekly/daily repeat function) to set up the hours for the year without having to go in and individually add each day. For example, the shift is set up as follows:

Beginning 24 January – Monday – Sunday from 6am-2pm
Beginning 3 Feb – Thursday-Wednesday from 10pm-6am
Beginning 14 Feb – Mon-Thurs from 2-10pm

Of course, you scatter some random days off because the hours end up being more than you actually need, but in general, I would like to repeat those all on the same days. I attempted to use the weekly repeat, but it does it from the end of the shift, not the beginning, so when you schedule out 4 weeks from a night shift it messes up the days.

Google answer…..

HEY DUDE, I JUST DID MINE AND THIS POST BY KiethR2010 BELOW HELPED ME IT… WAS EASY.

ALL YOU BASICALLY DO IS REPEAT THROUGH DAILY AND CHOSE THE SET DAYS. MY SCHEDULE IS WORKS 2 DAY SHIFTS 2 NIGHTS AND OFF 4 SO I ENTERED THE FIRST DAY IN MY CALENDAR THEN REPEATED IT EVERY 8 DAYS. IT WORKS LIKE MAGIC LOL

George Calombaris rips $7.8 Million from his employees

Posted on: July 19, 2019 | Categories: award interpretation rostering scheduling Time & Attendance

George Calombaris has been caught out with poor systems. While his OCD applied nicely for preparing food that skill did not transfer to admin. Poor systems for employee timekeeping and payroll has led to this situation where George has shortchanged staff $7.8 million dollars. Did he do this knowingly?

How could George have avoided this situation?

The answer is simple, with a timekeeping system designed to stop these issues from occurring, with built-in awards it is not possible to short pay employees. Don’t get caught out in your restaurant, if your using timesheets or spreadsheets it is time to put an electronic system in place.

  • Schedule employees easily from your PC or mobile phone
  • Awards built-in
  • Remove manual data entry integrate with payroll including Xero, Quicken, MYOB and many more

I believe George has now paid all the money back, copped a fine and also needs to offer his time to complete some adds.
